Ingredients

- fresh asparagus
- non-stick cooking spray if you do not have an oil mister
- olive oil
- salt
- pepper
- fresh parmesan cheese, grated (You can also use the already grated cheese in the container, but I would use a little less.)

Instructions

Step 1: Grate parmesan cheese and set aside.

Step 2. Preheat oven to 450°F.
Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish or a large baking sheet with olive oil or non-stick cooking spray.

Step 3: Rinse asparagus with water and drain on paper towels.

Step 4: Grab about 1/4 of the asparagus bunch in your hands at a time.

Step 5: With both hands, snap the ends off of the asparagus and then place in your prepared baking dish or on your baking sheet. Repeat until finished.
You can also cut the ends right above where the stalks turn from white to green instead of snapping them off.

Step 6: Drizzle olive oil evenly over the asparagus.

Step 7: Add salt and pepper.

Step 8: Sprinkle grated parmesan over the asparagus.

Step 9: Bake for 15-20 minutes until asparagus is lightly browned.
For thick asparagus spears (about 3/4 inch to 1 inch thick), you may need to bake them for 20-25 minutes.

Step 10: Serve and enjoy!
Hint: I like to use an oil mister to spray my baking dish. If you don’t have one, non-stick cooking spray works too!
